Sept 2nd , 2010 :  The Gathering of Eagles – Hawaii coordinator team arrived at Marine Corps Base Hawaii flight line ,to stand as witnesses to the Change of Command Ceremony of the Commanding General , Marine Forces Pacific . MARFORPAC , being the largest Field Command in the United States Marine Corps , and containing the 3d Marine Regiment  as well as Marine Air Group 24 , has long been directly supported by Hawaii Gathering of Eagles with large scale donation of Kona coffee sent to those Marines deployed in the war zones and also supported when they arrive in training deployments on the Big Island with botted water and other refreshments . It was both our honor and our duty to attend this magnificent ceremony .

Aloha and Welcome to da Big Island !

It is the Hawaii Gathering of Eagles pleasure , and honor to meet and greet the U.S. Army’s  3rd Brigade Combat Team ,and specifically the good , hard working Soldiers of the 325 BSB ,  as they pass through K-Docks for this training evolution at PTA.

USN LCAC’s @ RIMPAC 2010 – K-Docks

It was an incredible honor and lots of fun to be admitted to K-Docks today , in order to observe U.S. Navy air cushioned landing craft [LCAC]  deliver  U.S. Marines and their equipment , along with soldiers from Canada , Australia and Indonesia and their gear . All deploying to the Big Island of Hawai’i for the 2010 RIMPAC exercises

grass renewal project @ the Surf Park

The GOE today restored the dirt patches in the lawn at Surf Park , caused by our horseshoe pitch , with plugs of Seashore Paspalum grass  in the sunny areas and Dwarf St. Augustine grass plugs in the shade areas . All watered in and with the irrigation now working well , each evening , on the timers this new grass should take off and do well .

K-Docks Canteen and RSP in full tilt boogie !

United States Marines from both Oahu and Okinawa were warmly greeted and solidly supported out at K-Docks yesterday

Prior to their upcoming deployments , this will give them many happy memories of the reality of true Aloha! that they can take with them when they are far far away .

The on scene report follows :


” We had a GREAT day at the port with our troops!  There was plenty of P&Js…hot dogs…drinks…snacks….fresh fruit : Pineapple, bananas, avocados and tangelos!  WHEW!  “

Change of Command @ PTA

Col Warline Richardson as she departs command of U.S. Army Garrison Pohakuloa after 3 outstanding years of exceptional leadership at PTA and the best of  friendship to all of us with the GOE.  We welcome with equal warmth and Aloha : Lt. Col Chris Niles and his wife Shawna and their  sweet children , to our Big Island Ohana .  Hawaii GOE gives the Niles’  our full and unconditional support in every way .

KOA Aloha Welcome Greeting for Okinawa based U.S.M.C.

Under semi cloudy skies and balmy conditions 10 members of Hawaii Chapter of the Gathering of Eagles convened to stage a Welcome to the Big Island greeting for our United States Marine Corps guests from Okinawa .     We stood by from 0800 hrs until 1400 hrs and were able to greet many a good Marine  .
